Investigation into the need for greater governance of reference data change, resulting in the design of a new reference data governance process and the execution of a pilot to test the new process.

Challenge

Problems with the specification, timing and completeness of reference data changes across core platforms, caused this client to commission a review to understand the cause of these issues, and propose a resolution.

Approach

Stratiformis undertook a cross functional review by interviewing a number of stakeholders to examine the existing informal processes used to deliver changes to reference data. This identifying the root causes of the problems experienced, and helped define the principles of a process to make it clearer and easier for the business to request change.

Outcome

The initial review was followed by the definition and refinement of a more rigorous process subsequently proposed to the business. The revised process was then developed in detail, prepared operationally and piloted with the business, resulting in quicker turnaround times, greater accuracy and and positive feedback from the business.
