Lean Business Process Review for Underwriting
Summary
Design and delivery of a Lean business process optimisation project tackling inefficiency and low value activities constraining underwriting activity in broker facing and back office support operations.
Challenge
Underwriting activities were perceived to have become burdened with significant amounts of low value activities and inefficient working practices. Relationship and business development activities were becoming constrained by sub optimal administrative and regulatory tasks.
Approach
Stratiformis designed and and delivered a Lean Business Process Review pilot project to examine underwriting processes (post bind) and derive short, medium and long term opportunities using a methodical Lean approach.
Outcome
The workshops identified substantial process waste particularly in re-work, over-processing and correction. The resulting findings were used to influence application design and integration in the medium term.
